Farr High School, Bettyhill - Case Study
Supply & install of LTHW pipework & district heating system
Korrie Mechanical & Plumbing worked in conjunction with the main contractor, Robertson Construction, on the Farr School upgrade project in Bettyhill, by Thurso.
Korrie were tasked to provide heating services for the new school and the client was specifically looking to make savings on their energy bills as well as to raise the levels of efficiency of their current heating system.
LTHW F&R underground pipework was fitted to support the newly installed external biomass boiler plant (supplied/installed by others). A mini district heating system was also installed to serve the main school buiding as well as the swimming pool building.
It was paramount to the contract that the school remained fully operational during the duration of all works carried out.
The works were programmed to ensure that any disruption to the daily school programme was eliminated and any handovers were planned for weekends or holiday periods.
The existing electric storage heating installations were replaced with a more economical heating installation. A brand new LTHW distribution pipework system was installed to serve fan convectors within the classroom areas and provide a more efficient heat source for the school.
In order to minimise disruption to the school, all works were undertaken outwith school hours. It is testament to the Korrie team involved that they were able to complete the contract without a hitch, working in a live school environment whilst ensuring the safety of both staff and pupils within the school during the works.
The contract was completed on time, on budget and without any disruption to the normal day to day routine of the school.
