Korrie's pro golfer all set for new season
Korrie Mechanical & Plumbing have renewed their sponsorship of Professional golfer Jamie Treasurer for the 2017 PGA Assistant’s Championship.
The 26-year-old was thrilled when Korrie answered his call for financial backing last season as the travel costs began to mount up for the budding star.
Jamie, who is based out of Loch Ness Golf Club where he is the assistant professional, is keen to improve upon last season’s scores and do the Korrie team proud on the fairways this term.
He said: “I had a conversation at the tail end of 2015 with Donnie Fraser about a possible sponsorship. He played a lot of his golf here at Loch Ness, and he was very supportive of me. I tried to play the first season on the tour without any backing and it was a real challenge, especially with the majority of the tournaments being held in the central belt, so I sent a letter to Donnie before the start of last season and he was only too happy to help out.
“I cannot thank him and Korrie enough for their support, it has been a great help and takes away a lot of the financial pressure on me. Hopefully, this season I can do them proud on the course and it definitely makes life easier to be representing a prominent local company like Korrie. I know a lot of the lads there as well, so it is a great relationship to have from my point of view.
“I don’t want to put myself under any extra pressure, but I am really happy with my golf game at the moment. It is the best it has been for a while, so I am going into this term with a lot more confidence. Last season was disappointing in terms of results, but I feel like I am in a much better place now to post some good scores.
“I am interested in the coaching side of the game, so that is an option for me at the moment. On the playing front it is a very tough school and you really need the breaks at the right time, but then Ian Poulter never turned professional until later on and went through the same Assistant’s programme, so you never know what can happen.”
Korrie Commercial Director, Warren MacDonald, is delighted to support the up and coming golf star and hopes he can have a fantastic season in the PGA Assistant’s Championship.
He added: “I got to know Jamie personally when I took up golf again a few years ago and became a member myself at Loch Ness, when Donnie helped reintroduce me to the game and unfortunately, due to the tragic events of 2016, we were not able to utilise Jamie and support him as much as we would have liked.
"When Jamie contacted me regarding 2017, I knew Donnie would have wanted us to continue the support of young local talent, which is something that Korrie prides itself on, and we are delighted to offer our help and assistance again."
